Authorities in a joint search with locals have discovered the remains of two fishermen whose fishing boat was crushed on the River Nile by a hippopotamus at Palabilu village in   Wadelai Sub-county Pakwach district on Friday morning. #WhisperEyeNews

The two that were hit by the river horse had gone fishing on the river Nile in the wee hours of Friday morning last week.

 The deceased were identified by local leaders as Ongom Ojumbe and Ngwita from  Padigo and Ungwele village all in  Ungwele parish.

The wreckage of their fishing boat was discovered shortly as the search for their bodies were ongoing since Friday morning.

 The LC3 chairperson of the Wadelai subcounty Davidson Oramba Chope who confirmed news about the discovery commends everyone's tireless effort.

" We were able to discover the bodies of the two after a tireless search since Friday. We thank each and everyone who supported us in this" Oramba

The RDC of Pakwach Paul Eseru said " We involved officials from Uganda Wildlife Authorities who came and guided on how the procedures should be followed on how to report to police for investigation etc", Eseru noted. 

The two were laid to rest in their respective villages on Sunday.

Relatedly weeks ago, a crocodile also killed one person along the River Nile in Pakwach Subcounty Pakwach district.
