Takealot.com is considered the amazon of Africa with thousands of online shoppers flocking on the site everyday. Every retail would want to add their products on the site to catch a share of the millions of Takealot's customers. But while you are readying to start selling on takealot.com, Here is a breakdown of what you will pay for every successful sale.

These breakdowns are only for a successful sales, they do not involve other sales such as production, shipping to takealot's distribution centers, etc.
we shall also only look at the minimum amounts, other products that seller prices are higher the fees might be different.

1. Fulfillment fee,
R48.6

This is the minimum Takealot charges for every small Item, regardless of the seller price, meaning that if you are selling a low end product like a USB cable, Takealot might not be a place for you.

2. 22% Successful Fee,

This is the commission Takealot gets from every sale that has succeeded.

3. VAT,
15% Value Added Tax

4. Storage fee.

Let's say you want to upload a product that sell price will be R60, If you subtract the Fulfillment fee (R48), 22% successful fee, and VAT, you will be left in a Negative balance. The only alternative will be to increase the price of your product in order to gain a profit margin, however this means you product won't attract buyers as it will be expensive.

If your product is not bought because of the Higher price, Then it will attract storage fees. At the same time there are other sellers on Takealot selling their products way below those fees.

To be continued.
